Nutrition Consultant
A nutritional consultant must be well versed with the specific building blocks that
constitute the psychological well-being of an individual, a patient and even their family
members. As in the case of Laura and her family, it is the work of a nutritional expert to guide
them into proper eating habits. The proposed food intake must lead to optimal health and
lifestyle. The paper is an in-depth study of the concerns a nutritional expert would have based on
Laura's diet while explaining why some are not ideal. The article also points out the impact of
the status of her weight on her pregnancy.
Quiz 1: Concerns about Laura’s Nutrition
Firstly, Laura is slowly getting overweight because of her dietary plans and the little
exercises that she is engaging in. From her last three days nutritional records, it is clear that she
tries to maintain healthy and happy dietary standards. Most of her breakfasts get made of coffee
and cream. It would be imperative that she reduces her consumption of cream in her weekly
nutritional plans. It can get consumed to fulfil the desires of a balanced diet. It has fats, vitamin
A, B2, minerals, carbohydrates and even proteins. It is essential to understand that cream grants
about 455 calories to the body. As a nutritionist, it would be advisable for Laura not to consume
much of the cream with her reasonably physically inactive lifestyle to stop risking being
overweight. It is not also ideal to absorb the junk foods over the weekend. She needs to take a lot
of water and also incorporate fruits in her diet.

Question 2: Impact of Weight on Pregnancy
The weight of a woman when she gets pregnant relative to the weight she gains during
pregnancy can directly affect the health of the baby. The Institute of Medicine recommends that
the frequently weighing pregnant women should be having a Body to Mass Index of between
18.5 to 24.9. They are allowed to gain twenty-five to thirty-five pounds of weight. On a broader
approach, Laura should understand that there is a legion of obesity-related health risks for fetuses
(Kaiser, Lucia and Lindsday 540). One case example is the neural tube defects in which the
growing baby will not have his or her brain and the spinal column developing as desired.
Research also has it that the babies born to overweight women stand an excellent chance of
having heart defects. Laura should also check on her dietary plans not to develop diabetes.
Researchers affirm that the Gestational Diabetes might cause some challenges for a newborn
baby. Some of these problems are the likes of low blood sugar and reasonably large babies that
might cause injuries at birth. A healthy pregnancy can get promoted by an active lifestyle and a
proper diet.
Question 3: Consumption of the Micronutrients
There are relatively key nutrients that should be present in a pregnant woman's diet. They
need lots of calcium, folic acid, iron and proteins than their counterparts who are not expecting.
Though the regular morning cream gives her virtually all the nutrients that she needs, she is
somewhat consuming more fats and calories that are responsible for her increased weight. Laura
needs to get some of these vitamins from fruits like mangoes, passion fruits and pineapples other
than just the apple juice.

Question 4: Recommendations on the Weight Gain Supplements
I would advise Laura to engage in some physical exercises on a daily basis (Oken et al.
36). It should help her to stretch her waist and also burn the excess fats and consume the calories.
It will also help her reduce on her weight gain.
