Thesis: For us adults to notice or find out about low self-esteem in children, we have to be keen in
observing a child character when in school as well as home. Some of the aspects to be observed
include behavioural patterns, child self-assurance, and child developed strength.
I. Behavioural patterns.
A. Children avoid challenges without trying, implying fear of failure and sense of
helplessness.
B. Children seem affected by peer influence that is negative.
C. Children make critical comments about themselves.
D. Oversensitivity about opinions of him from other people.
E. Experiences mood changing, crying, quietness, frustration, angry outbursts, and
exhibiting sadness by the low esteem children.
F. The decline in school grades and loss of interest in activities often done like games.
II. Self-assurance.
A. A belief that success and competence are achievable.
B. Setting and achieving goals.
C. Physical activities such as engaging in co-curricular activities in games, drama,
debates, and scouting as it keeps the mind occupied and enhances socializing.
D. Learn new things so that when you are up to a discussion, one can share ideas and
information rather than keeping quiet.
E. Forgive one for the past mistakes.
F. Having a good role model.
III. Developing strengths.
A. Low self-esteem children need to express themselves and see the potential areas in
which they have mastery.
a) There is a need for these children to see themselves succeed because they find
real north in their creative expression.
b) We should also encourage low self-esteem children to take tasks in activities that
they show interest.
c) It could, therefore, be video games, swimming, dancing, or playing basketball.
