Operations Management Applications
Operations management is a wide aspect which in most cases the organization fails to handle
because of its enormity. However, with adequate measures, an organization can handle its
operations management successfully. When applying effective operation management
techniques, a manager should think about sustainability, corporate governance, and social
responsibility. What these three aspects support is the welfare of the stakeholders. In the case of
sustainability, the company will have taken care of the needs of the government and other social
lobbyists. On the part of corporate governance, the management will have handled matters that
are associated with shareholder interests. Lastly, with social responsibility, the managers will be
catering to the needs of its customers. An example of an organization which experienced
challenges regarding its operation management strategy is Wells Fargo which is a service
provider company. According to reports, the management of this company is highly remunerated
as compared to the junior employees (Christensen, Glover, and Wood 37). Second, some of the
directors use their positions to influence the employment of their relatives. Third, some directors
have served for a long time on the board of the company (Christensen, Glover, and Wood 37).
One of the strategies for handling this case is through effective corporate governance strategy. In
this case, the company should develop a blueprint where there is the separation of powers
between the directors and the managers at the company.
