Organizational Technology, Value, and Strategy
The corporate scope is occupied by various key firms creating goods as well as services
for the distinct clients. In this regard, the analysis focuses on the organizational technology,
value and also strategy of Verizon PLC. As a recognized organization, Verizon applies key
technologies in its operations vital in growth in the telecommunications sector. The three
includes employee management system (Bacon Software, 2016), balanced scorecard (Christesen
& McLean, Gary, 2008) and social computing. Remarkably, through the use of the three and
other technologies, Verizon manages to meet its needs and provide clients with quality services.
Organizational competency is important in staying ahead of the competition. Thus,
Verizon PLC use of an employee management system serves a vital role in increasing
competency. It helps track the worked hours, equipments in store as well as the time of reporting
and exits among other employee related issues (Bacon Software, 2016). In essence, use of

tracking of time one leaves work and time on reporting, there is a sense of discipline that highly
translates to overall improved performance by employees. Similarly, the use of social computing
involves the application of social sites like Instagram, Twitter as well as Facebook by Verizon.
Verizon has its well defined Twitter and Facebook accounts vital in influencing the decisions of
the firm (Verizon, 2017). With the online reviews and opinions, the firm keeps an eye on its
current and potential clients and corrects areas of complaints and improves areas of excellence.
Thus, Verizon improves competencies by focusing on its strengths and working on its
weaknesses in the telecommunications sector (Daily Monitor, n.d). Conversely, Christesen &
McLean, Gary (2008) recognize the application of balanced scorecard as a tool applicable and

used by management function in the management and control of performance. Hence, through

The use of modern technological trends at Verizon instills a culture of competency and
ethics in employees. Moreover, with the online reviews, complaints and recommendations, staff
shifts from the money and bonus oriented mindset to the ability to work efficiently in meeting
client needs. Likewise, through a balanced scorecard, department heads and managers have a key
responsibility to perform well, uphold ethics in operations and motivate staff towards goals.
Essentially, technology creates a culture of focus, innovativeness and goal orientation at Verizon.
Effectiveness is highly associated with the positive output arising from the inner as well
as the external operations. Remarkably, online reviews, end of year scorecard reports and the
monthly analysis of the employee management systems help pinpoint areas of weakness.
Therefore, through a SWOT analysis, Verizon manages to identify the competencies and
resources available, and implement measures on dealing with outlined issues. Through the
systematic analysis of the firm based on its strengths as well as weaknesses, good decision
making becomes possible and thus positively impacts effective services to clients in the
telecommunication industry.
The expansion into the global market requires both human, technological and financial
resources. With the right technology and innovative, firms like Verizon analyze the outside
market, identify key gaps in operations and set-up operations in those areas. Additionally, with
an integrated system like the balanced scorecard management tool (Christesen & McLean, Gary,
2008), there is the conglomeration of operations across nations without much movement. In
particular, technology makes operations easier in running the global business.
