Scenario 1:
The reason why Jorge and Kristin Zander’s explanation is justified is because they are
loving parents to Monique. They, therefore, want the best for her. They wouldn’t wish her to be
exposed to jeopardizing situations where she is quite vulnerable and hence could slip morally.
Also, their perception is that the nightclubs are rowdy place and she has not come of age yet and
she is bound to make irrational decisions which she might regret in the future. As parents,
sometimes one follows their gut feelings and if their conscience feels something is wrong, it is
only wise to stay away from it. Most of the time, when one goes against such a plea, things go
wrong and they have no one else but themselves to blame. The nightclub was a somewhat shady
location to perform at and Monique was aware of this as well. One of the reasons why the
nightclub was not the best place to be is the fact that the owner was occasionally on the wrong
side of the law. The owner had been arrested in 5 different instances and held under charges of
encouraging drug abuse as well as prostitution. Jorge and Kristin did not want their beloved
daughter to be a victim of such since one can easily become a victim of such, especially when
they are intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol. Monique had come into contact with one
of the peddlers who tried to convince her into buying Cocaine. Her parents basically felt that this
was not the best place to be, however well it would work for her music career. Furthermore, they
supported her in every way especially with her music and therefore they were not trying to
curtail her efforts. They were giving their verdict on what they think is right and what is not, and
singing in the nightclub was not.
From Monique’s perspective, she was almost 18 and she deserved some bit of liberty and
freedom in pursuing what she really loved. Even though she had faced a scenario where someone
3
tried selling Cocaine to her, she handled the situation quite calmly. Also, she would visit the
nightclub in the company of her boyfriend Daquan as well as two other semi-professional
singers. Keeping the right company basically meant she wouldn’t get into trouble. Also, she was
after regular performances at the nightclub and hopefully these would open doors for her and
catapult her music career to the top. Another goal of pursuing the performances at the nightclub
so had was, she and Daquan needed to raise money and purchase their own car. This way, she
wouldn’t have to wait on the one that was promised to her. The pay from the nightclub was
really nice and there was no way she could turn that down. Also, making her own money was her
path to freedom especially from strict observance by her parents. She had yearned for that
breakthrough for quite a long time and this particular opening seemed like it would bear
something great.
Scenario 2
Isabel is justified in showing concern and seeming insecure from what is happening. She
does not like what she sees when she decided to secretly peep at Aaditya having his Karate
lessons. The pretty women who train alongside him are too friendly and they are always laughing
and in a jovial mood. Considering he hasn’t been there for long, Isabel is justified in seeking
answers or clarification she might need. Even if she will seem sinister for spying on him at the
dojo, it is preferable to solve the issue at hand early enough before it becomes chaotic. It could
be possible Aaditya has no ill intentions and is not aware that the pretty ladies are overly
friendly. What would result from the pep talk is, he could give her assurance that everything is
fine. At this point, there wouldn’t be need to worry anymore. In as much as she is stressing over
4
the beautiful women, it is only right to get it off her chest for her inner peace and so that their
union thrives.
The other perspective of arguing the case is, Isabel should not have been suspicious in the
first place. If there was anything sinister going on, Aaditya wouldn’t bother inviting her and
asking her to join him for the Karate lessons. Also, the fact that most of the women who were
practicing alongside were beautiful shouldn’t have made her feel insecure. As long as they had
built something formidable with Aaditya, she should not have been worried at all. Aaditya had
Isabel’s best interests at heart since he went the extra mile of inviting her to a program where
they would get to share more time together. Isabel could be overthinking about the situation just
because she thinks the women are prettier than she is and therefore Aaditya might easily sideline
her for those other women. Also, the best thing to do to affirm her worries would be to press on
with the classes and put her insecurities aside. She would best observe the situation and the
gestures running around if she was present rather than spying on Aaditya.
