Scenario 1:
The reason why Jorge and Kristin Zander’s explanation is justified is because they are
loving parents to Monique. They, therefore, want the best for her. They wouldn’t wish her to be
exposed to jeopardizing situations where she is quite vulnerable and hence could slip morally.
Also, their perception is that the nightclubs are rowdy place and she has not come of age yet and
she is bound to make irrational decisions which she might regret in the future. As parents,
sometimes one follows their gut feelings and if their conscience feels something is wrong, it is
only wise to stay away from it. Most of the time, when one goes against such a plea, things go
wrong and they have no one else but themselves to blame. The nightclub was a somewhat shady
location to perform at and Monique was aware of this as well. One of the reasons why the
nightclub was not the best place to be is the fact that the owner was occasionally on the wrong
side of the law. The owner had been arrested in 5 different instances and held under charges of
encouraging drug abuse as well as prostitution. Jorge and Kristin did not want their beloved
daughter to be a victim of such since one can easily become a victim of such, especially when
they are intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol. Monique had come into contact with one
of the peddlers who tried to convince her into buying Cocaine. Her parents basically felt that this
was not the best place to be, however well it would work for her music career. Furthermore, they
supported her in every way especially with her music and therefore they were not trying to
curtail her efforts. They were giving their verdict on what they think is right and what is not, and
singing in the nightclub was not.
From Monique’s perspective, she was almost 18 and she deserved some bit of liberty and
freedom in pursuing what she really loved. Even though she had faced a scenario where someone
