Specific purpose statement: After listening to my speech, the audience will get to realize the importance of
taking breakfast in the morning.

I. ATTENTION
A. Attention-Getting Statement: Ever wondered why our parents or guardians ushered our
morning with variety of food to take in the morning despite the fact that sometimes we did not
wake up hungry? Worry no more, I will take you through as to why taking breakfast is the best
thing for healthy living.
B. Credentials: As an individual concerned with healthy living through food and nutrition, I
understand the importance of having breakfast in our daily lives. Moreover, I have carried out
substantial research that would support the fact that breakfast is the most important meal.
C. Thesis Statement: I will be discussing on the healthy benefits of having breakfast daily as a way
of starting off the day with some energy since breakfast ought to be the source of the body
energy required to steer individuals throughout their daily routines.
D. Preview of main points: I will discuss on the challenges associated with not taking breakfast
and explaining how these challenges can be addressed by ensuring that before individual can
embark on their daily routines they need to have a breakfast meal.

behavior.
II. PROBLEM / NEED

A. Skipping breakfast meal especially among the young children has been linked with obesity.
According to Daniels (2012), failing to take breakfast in the morning led to serious metabolic
implications. For instance, fasting blood glucose and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
B. Moreover, for those children as well as adolescents who skipped the breakfast meals reported
cases of too much intake of calories later in the day thus promoting the likelihood of becoming
obese.
C. According to Spence (2017) a study carried out by Cahill et al. in 2013 suggest that
approximately 27% of individual males in North America who failed to have a meal at the start
of the day suffered from coronary heart disease.
D. Jackson-Michel (2017) notes that failing to take meal at the start of the day has negative effects
on the cognitive abilities among individuals. Reports have indicated that having breakfast meal
ensures improved cognitive ability during the day.

important of taking healthy breakfast meal as well.
III. SATISFACTION / SOLUTION
A. According to Adolphus, Lawton, and Dye (2013) implementing habitual breakfast meal among
the students increased their academic performance.Notably, the study focused on both the
nourished and undernourished students whereby the findings noted improved academic
performance for both cases.
B. Spence (2017) notes that by having a well-balanced breakfast meal in the meaning will ensure
that the body is supplied with energy during the day. This ensures that individuals are productive
as well as enhancing the mental wellbeing of the individual.
C. It is important to note that, it is not about taking breakfast in the morning but ensuring that
whatever an individual take contains balance diet. Having a balanced diet breakfast meal would
ensure that the critical the body acquires different components that helps in keeping the body
healthy.
D. Ensuring that we take well-balanced breakfast meals then we will overcome challenges such as
threats associated with heart diseases and obesity. Besides it is important to note that having
well-balanced meal at the beginning of the day lowers the risks of getting diabetes. All this is
according to the University Health News article that contains advices from the leading
universities and medical centers in the US.

also the benefits associated with taking the meals let’s now visualize the way it can be if all of us
emphasized on taking the meal.
IV. VISUALIZATION
A. Implementing healthy breakfast meal daily would see a population that is productive as well as
individuals demonstrating high cognitive abilities. Just imagine a population where we would not
spend a lot to address the issue of obese kids or adolescents.
B. However, if we fail to observe compulsory well-balanced breakfast meal daily then unproductive
population will be the only thing that we will have. Imagine a situation whereby everyone cannot
afford to carry out their daily responsibilities. Don’t you think this would be a disaster?
(Transition)It is my hope that you will contemplate on the benefits of making breakfast a must and
take action.
V. ACTION / APPEAL
A. Review thesis: Taking meal at the start of day should not be optional but it ought to be a must if
we want to achieve our dreams and continue with the healthy living.
B. Review main points: It is important to note that our discussion today has dwelt on the negative
implications of not taking breakfast and the benefits of making sure that we have our breakfast
meals daily. for example, we have noticed that without breakfast meals in our lives there is
likelihood of facing issues such as obesity, coronary diseases, and low cognitive
abilities.Therefore, there is the need of making sure that we integrate daily breakfast meal to be
part and parcel of our lives.
C. Closing Statement / Direct Challenge (to adopt the specified attitude, belief or behavior)A
healthy and productive population is built only by cultivating a healthy living culture. it is our
mandate to ensure that we pass the baton of compulsory intake of healthy breakfast daily among
the society.
