PILGRIM JOURNEY 2
Pilgrim Journey
A pilgrimage is one of the most soul-searching journeys that any human being can
experience and achieve emotional contentment. It has a huge impact on people’s lives as it
brings healing in various aspects of life including religion and relationships with the spiritual
self and also other people. Going on a pilgrimage is one of the things I hope and wish to do
before my life comes to an end. In fact, if I was in a suitable position I would embark on a
pilgrim journey to Jerusalem at a place called Via Dolorosa which translates to ‘ways of
sorrows.’ This is the road which Jesus walked to his crucifixion at Golgotha from Pontius
Pilate’s place where he was sentenced. It is also the most sacred of Christian byways and
would be a perfect destination for me as it would provide me with an opportunity to gain
spiritual enlightenment, healing, and reconnection with my religious side. I would prefer to
walk alone despite this being an unfamiliar place which may be a bit confusing due to the
many twists and turns that it has. This is because it would bring me the desired results
quicker.
My target in going on the pilgrimage would be to achieve emotional and mental
strength and courage to undertake life and also a bigger understanding of Jesus’ sacrifice. This
is because so far in life I have often been reluctant towards taking up new opportunities and
experiences as I feel unsure of the outcomes. Via Dolorosa would help me change my attitude
and take of things in life to positivity and courage. Walking the byway by myself would help
me to get a solitary moment to think of and meditate on the sufferings Jesus selfless
underwent. This place would offer a visual feeling of what and how Jesus underwent on his
way to the cross without giving up or seeking an escape. I would also help me with
strengthening the bonds and nature of my relationships. I strongly feel and believe that the
pilgrimage would impact great positive changes in how I make decisions in my life.
