According to Dr. Ravitch, the connection between public education and democracy is that
education is among the foundation stones of democracy, that is public schools are meant to
provide quality education to the children. Charter schools are not required to hire certified
teachers. They are also interested in the scores, so if charter schools become dominant, they may
reject students that do not score well and therefore, an assault on public education is considered
harassement on democracy.
Dr. Ravitch concern on public education is the future of pub;lic education. Ravitch is
concerned on the issue as she wants public education not to have a dead end. Netflix CEO, Reed
Hastings declares that public education may not die any time soon, the statement confirms
Ravitchs concern on public education.When it comes to entrepreneurs on public education,
Ravitch was more critical about it and further claims that most of the entrepreneurs are
billionaires who never had anyone in their lives attending public education and therefore, knows
little about public education apart from viewing it as an industry. According to Ravitch, most of
the entrepreneurs are not educators, but are interested in public education because their aim is to
profit themselves through diverting public education to the charter schools.
The reason provided by Dr. Ravitch to assert that public schools are not failing is due to a
lot of commitment to every single child together with not considering on what their parents can
afford to pay in terms of school fees thus, all this will be a need for its strengthening and not
failure. Dr. Ravitch indicates that the charter schools were designed to supplement the work of
public education in which some people working in the public education did not have the desired
levels required for teaching.
Dr. Ravitch claims that charter schools lack or rather evades accountability because most
of them avoid public auditing since they do not want to expose how they use their private funds
