Racial Stereotypes
Introduction
Diversity is an integral part of the society and significantly influences the interaction
and integration that people develop in the community. It is evident that the variables that
reflect on diversity are many including the cultures, races, ethnicity, economic class,
originality level of literacy among other relevant factors. The virtue and the challenge of the
racial stereotypes have been present in the society for a long time in history. The
misconceptions of different races and the previous relations have significantly influenced the
level of regard and integration (Hunt 54). Racial stereotypes are a liability in the society as it
attributes to the rapid rates of discrimination, wage differences, slavery, among other
negative externalities.
The Challenge of Racial Stereotypes
It is crucial to develop a rational understanding of the level of racial stereotypes and
the notion that revolves the idea. The key races that depict some specific notions include the
white and the blacks. The white races among the other races are perceived as a superior race,
and it is the reason the problem of imperialism based on the tracks is a common challenge in
the society (Aries 56). It is crucial to critically understand the meaning of stereotyping to

develop the critical understanding of the implication and the negative attributes it accords in
then society. Racial stereotypes refer to the exaggerated and the automatic images and
reflections that we hold for the members of other races.
The negative implication of the stereotypes includes the fact that it may lead to
discrimination of the highly criticized races in the society. For example, in the United States
of America, the black races are represented as criminals and the social media is directed at
the promotion of the pessimistic attitudes in the society (Aries 54). Such racial stereotypes
have served as a significant attribute to the negative articulation of the African Americans,
and it is the reason there are significant cases of criminalization of the innocent individuals
due to the race. Such acts can be considered to be discriminative in the society, and they may
attribute to further aggravation of rivalry. Such representation reduces the credibility of the
African Americans in the work environment, and further, it may resolve into conflicts.
Other critical challenges of the racial stereotypes include the fact that it results in the
slavery and the exploitation of some given groups in the society. For example, in history, it is
evident the fact that the African Americans and the Mexicans were viewed as inferior in the
community resulted in the slavery and exploitation. The nature of exploitation was embedded
on hard labor with low wage rates (Hunt 54). The stereotyped nature of the races has
extended in the current society, and it is the reason that majority of the Hispanic, African
Americans and the Mexicans are anchored on negative stereotypes in the community. It is the
reason in the current society, the wage rates of the minority races are challenged with the fact
that they continue to decline intently.
Other challenges of the racial stereotype include the fact that it can result in conflict
and political rivalry. For example, in the United States of America, it is evident that the racial
discriminations have significantly influenced the politics it is the reason there is tension on

the attributes of the African Americans. Such rivalry is not productive for the development of
the society considering the fact peace and lack of conflict are ambient for economic growth in
the community. The frequency of the application of the racial stereotypes is through the
advertisements which shape the mental ideologies.
The critical demerit of the stereotyping in the mass media is the fact that it is
embedded taking offense. The advertisements that are anchored on stereotypes can resolve
into misinterpretations of the information and thus attribute to the discriminative acts (Hunt
43). It is crucial to note that although there are negative notions of the racial stereotypes,
there are also positive impacts because the highly valued race serve the merit of prioritization
in the different life opportunities like the employment, education and other relevant ventures.
Solution Strategies
It is evident that the presence of the racial stereotypes is a common challenge as they
are automatic and they are developed historically in the society. Due to the adverse attributes
it very crucial to create an effective strategy to overcome the stereotypes. The initial step
towards overcoming the negative characteristics of racial stereotypes is through accepting
that we are all human beings and highly vulnerable to harbor stereotypes (Hunt 35). The
second should be towards allowing and developing the awareness of the inner thoughts of the
racial groups and develop an alternative perception based on the factual information.
The social media is a crucial strategy that helps a build a positive notion and modeling
of the conception of the different races. The social media helps to develop a positive attribute
of the minor groups in the society. Therefore, the criminality attitude and stereotype accorded
to the teams like the African American is eliminated on deeper extents. It is valuable to build

a nation and a society that values each of the races equally and accord value to each of the
groups. Other effective strategies that help create the inferior races is through the use of the
government.
The government plays a significant role in helping build a favorable profile of the
nation. Through formulation of the policies, it is possible to create a ground to eliminate the
possibility of discrimination in the society (Aries 64). The discriminative policies would
serve a significant role in the social amenities services, the employment and other segments.
Furthermore, it would help develop the appreciation of the undervalued races in the society.
Conclusion
Racial stereotypes are an adamant liability in the society. It is evident that there is
need to achieve a transformation in the conception because it induces severe obligations in
the community. The key strategies to help eliminate the forms of the stereotypes include the
use of the social media to help develop a definite conception of the minor races in the society.
The key challenges that the racial stereotypes include the discrimination in the community,
the liability for slavery, wage discrimination and other intense problems. Although equity is a
fallacy and next to impossible it is valuable to reduce the gap of value between the different
races in the society. The elimination of the racial stereotype is a significant challenge
considering the fact there is a developed notion of the white race and other races which have
been designed historically.
