RELIGION AND THEOLOGY 2
Religion and Theology
The type of religion the clip of National Graphic’s Taboo is cult. The essay discusses the
reasons that support this proposition. The religion involves a literal interpretation of scripture.
The religion that involves snake handling directly interprets the Bible, as it is which is not as per
the expectation of the society. For instance, the snake handling religion gives a literal meaning of
the text of Mark as to come up with the signs to follow in the religion and further concludes that
some of the signs are mandatory while others are conditional. The whole practice is indeed
unacceptable since it has no spiritual point of reasoning,
In addition, the religion faced hostility from society, which further confirms it as cult.
The societies where the religion was practiced rejected the religion based on the practices and the
beliefs it is based on. The snake-handling scenario is one considered a sin, as the snake is mostly

as to why the religion was rebuked was its association with the serpent, which was a biblical
perspective, is associated with the devil. The religion was therefore deemed as one that is not
guided in a spiritual manner.
The last reason why I consider the religion as cult is the hostility of the religion toward
other religions. The snake handling religion was fond of rebuking other religions of not
following the Bible strictly. The snake handling religion believed that the Bible is supposed to be
