Abstract
There are various changes that took place in the United States of America during the second world
war, that made America become a Global Super Power after the end of the Second World War in
late 19th centuries and early 20th centuries. The decisions and policies acquired by the United
States during the war raised the status of various sectors like; employment, military, trade,
technological development, and government policy. America had to play a greatly significant role
in making internal transformations that will make the states be recognized by other states as the
most superior nation if not among the Superior Countries. President Harry had to make those
efforts since if he could not make those changes with great haste and with a proper strategy,
actually the United State of America could be like other countries that bow down to superpowers.
America and the Soviet Union were the main Competitors that were involved in the fight for being
superpowers. The two had their own interests and ideologies that led them to compete in Asia and
Europe. This competition could even lead to another World War but due to the worry of the use of
the nuclear weapons, this made them play a fair game in their competitions. The two opponents
had nothing to do but to fight for global influence. (Holt, 1995)

RESEARCH PROPOSAL
Introduction
This research will be exploring the effects of the Second World War on the United Nations that
made it rise as a Global Superpower. I would also look into the decisions and policies made by the
states during the war and explain the impact they had on the status of the state on employment,
military, trade, technological development, government policy and how they transformed the
United States Economy leading it to be figured as a Global Super Power. Some of the techniques
that I will use in my research are; to review various literature reviews on the second world war and
the United States of America, in addition to that. review of the articles that are describing the
second world war. I will also look at the factors that led to the changes either; economic, political
or social factors that led the United States to be named a Global Superpower. I will also major on
the time when this factors or changes took place but mostly on the one that took place during the
second world. And lastly, see how this changes made America assume the role of being a World
Superpower. America had to be smart enough in order to assume its role as the Global Super Power
after the end of the Second World War since by then it had been involved into various development
activities as other countries were busy concentrating in war issues. America's economic situation
had been improved and so if it were not the strategies that they laid in the way they are going to
come up with a state, then the country could not have been recognized as a superpower. Despite
the level of its economy, the challenges that it had from the Soviet Union, major destructions it
had incurred. America stood steal in the spirit of being the superpower of the globe and with no
doubt, it took it no time before it showed its ability through global influence and it was crowned
the title of being the World's Super Power.

Literature Review
According to (Hillenbrand, 2010) The Second World War is a global war that took a period of five
years, that is as from 1939 to 1945, although when the war-related conflicts years are summed up,
the total number of years that war took to come to an end is almost ten years. The two opponents
that were involved in the second world war were the Axis militaries and the Allies militaries. The
opposing militaries were composed of over a hundred millions of people from over thirty countries
all over the world. The United States of America joined the second world war due to the act of the
Japanese naval fleet that sneaked into America's waters and made an air attack of the Pearl Harbor,
though America had already created some link with the war by assisting the Allies with weapons,
hard guns, and air crafts. Before the Pearl Harbor attack, Franklin D. Roosevelt had created a lot
of interest in joining the war through the British side, Soviets, Chinese and the free- French but
the United States could not allow until when the Japanese made the attack. After the Pearl Harbor
attack, the United States Congress declared the United States not be a neutral nation, so the united
states equipped itself and started the war against the Japanese. America is the most developed
country, that most countries depended on various products and even Japan itself. Its militaries
became more powerful than any other countries in the war to a level of defeating Japan and even
any other country that tested the depth of the United States waters. Even after the defeat, America
continued to offer weapon assistance and selling of firearms to other countries that were in the
war, a situation that made it develop economically, hence making its territory to be strong. It went
further to help other countries to fight in the war and intervened in other countries war hence
bringing peace to those countries. This made the United States of America be termed as the
Superior nation.

RESEARCH PROPOSAL
(Beevor, 2012)Under the government policy, the Federal Reserve Act was set to form a Central
Banking System that was not under the national government control but its role was to control the
federal government. The Act was passed by the 1993 Congress that gave it the mandates to banking
cartels to issue legal tenders in form of notes, this gave the government the power to borrow the
notes and use them in various developmental activities in its territories. The government was tied
that after it had borrowed the money, use it in its economic developments and after the money is
found, the government had to pay back the lensed money. But where could this money come from
yet the government used it in developing various sectors in the country such as the military unit
where it equipped the military unit, developed the industrial sector in order to widen the jobs for
its citizens and improve its infrastructure. The government reached a point where the money could
not be refunded back to the central bank, and the only option that it had, was to involve its citizens
in the contribution of the money. Due to the declared Bankruptcy that is in the year1932, the social
security scheme "Tax" was introduced into the country. Citizens were involved in the contribution
of the borrowed money in form of tax and that is where Tax started. The federal government used
the tax technique to gather the money until the money was totally paid. This technique continued
in the United States of America until a time came when it was launched to other countries. Other
countries considered America as a superpower due to the unique techniques that it launched in
addition to the fact that America was noticed to be a developed country due to the level of
technology and economic stability. Hence it was termed as a superhero when it comes to
government policy and technology development.
(Shirer, 1960) The founding of the United Nations and the formation of NATO (North Atlantic
Treaty Organization) contributed to the crowning of the US to become a superpower. This union
was formed from the American's foreign policy which had existed in the previous World war
7

period. It involved a collection of all American countries, its allies and the entire Northern Atlantic.
The union led to the formation of a strongest military forces and powerful weapons that made each
and every country to tense whenever it tried to test the depth of the United States waters. This
organization became so strong to a point where other opponents that fought for the global
superpower role had to step back and leave the role for the United States. The union made the
United States be economically stable and be able to carry its role in the global influence, unlike
other countries that were not economically upright and hence that made them feel exhausted and
leave the competition for America to be the only superpower in the whole world. The Soviet Union
could not continue its role any more since America was seen to be the toughest than all other
unions in the world. With United States being ranked to be the powerful state in the whole world,
it assumed its role of playing a major part in the security issue in the whole world. It did this by
ensuring that peace around the globe is maintained. America established and ensured a diplomatic
relation in the entire world. It played a role in giving aids and disaster reliefs to countries that are
faced by various disasters due to the war, America also covered a wide range of the international
economic issues in the world of business like trading internationally. This made it improve the
economic part of the country and enhance its developments by making modern structures in the
states, this made it be considered as more superior since it, even went further to a point of giving
funds to countries that are not economically well, just to boost their economic growth, hence
building its respect as a global superpower. As a superpower country, it also made a great move in
the environmental conservation research in order to ensure that global warming is not encouraged
or severe climatic changes are not experienced in the whole world. These made it more superior
and hence its recognition is considered by almost all countries in the globe. (Zeihan, 1995)

RESEARCH PROPOSAL
The buildups towards rapid industrialization during the second world war made the United States
of America a superpower in technological and economic development. The United States came up
with "Rapid Industrialization project" as other countries set all their resources and power to war,
in order to ensure that its power technology is improved hence enhancing industrialization that in
return led to its economic development. Due to this industrialization, American states improved
the employment sectors where their citizens got their daily or monthly earnings, that in return was
used in the development of the states, also the industries produced products that were sold in the
international markets and earned the state a lot of income, that was later used in the transformation
of America. The technology led to development of windmills and steam engines that made electric
power for industrialization to be accessed with ease, hence enabling the advancements to be
attained. It worked hard in the development of the power technology since it really knew that
power is the pillar of industrialization. This industrialization ensured that more industries are
established and hence more employment opportunities developed and more products produced in
the industries where some are utilized locally and the surplus exported to other nations for sale
which earn the states a lot of income, the united states use the income to develop both
economically, politically and socially unlike other nations that were busy in war activities.
Remember other countries were still at the old model of electricity production due to wastage of
time and resources in the war, when the power technology was launched to these countries, they
really appreciated since their industries worked properly and hence developed with ease. This
earned the United States a lot of income and in addition to that, America was recognized as the
global superpower in the whole world, since it assumed and played its role well as a superpower.
America was not ready for the second world war until when India and French lured war in North
America that left entire America vulnerable to British Conquest. This made the United Nations get

themselves prepared for the United States war and expansion. America went to war in Europe for
seven years after which French ended giving up and its territories were grabbed with Spain and
Britain. President Napoleon also seized back Louisiana and sold the whole of its country to the
United States. Other countries who participated in the war like the New-France got lost forever.
Now, Spanish Empire which was declining rapidly was left open for the conquest of the British
Empire and it is the United States where the United States won the rival and conquered them all
hence the title Super State. There is also this other that built the United States to a superpower and
it is the stealing of the native American's land and all territories for the entire century. North
America was filled with diverse settlers of long-established societies when the European Explorer
and Attackers arrived to attack them. Actually North American, were many enough to become a
Sovereign State if United Nation would not have taken them away for their land, deny them
sovereignty, reduce them to tiny minorities and forcibly adopt them with their land. It was that
attack that North America was dominated by the United States thus the American Super Power
was built. The act of taking the land of Mexico in another war was another aspect that America
was a Global Super Hero. There were American settlers who were living in Mexico who increased
rapidly in number out doing the native speakers in Mexico. During their independence, in 1950,
the American settlers asked or claimed for the land of which no land was given to them until they
took it by force. They got involved in a war with Mexico Settlers and succeeded them where they
took Mexico's Texas territory hence becoming a superpower. Finally, during the second world
war, the war became costly to everyone who was involved including the economically stable
continents like Europe and Asia, which got devastated before the of the war leaving the United
States which paid dearly and endured the death of four hundred thousand militaries, hence coming
out as the only outstanding party hence the title Super Power. The Europe colonialism is also a
10
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
minor aspect that led to the building of United State Super Hero. European colonialism collapsed
leaving American Empire which colonized most African Countries at the out math of the second
world war. America had to be smart enough in order to assume its role as the Global Super Power
after the end of the Second World War since by then it had been involved into various destructions
which cost it a lot in their repair. America's economic situation had been tampered with and so if
it were not the strategies that they laid in the way they are going to come up with a state, then the
country could not have been recognized as a superpower. Despite the level of its economy, the
challenges that it had from the Soviet Union, major destructions it had incurred. America stood
still in the spirit of being the superpower of the globe and with no doubt, it took it no time before
it showed its ability through global influence and it was crowned the title of being the World's
Super Power. (Churchil, 1948)
Finally, United States was termed a world superpower due to its economic development. This
states had a wide range of employment opportunities that made the citizens enjoy the participation
process in the economic growth instead of them getting involved into the war. The economy in
these states grew rapidly unlike other countries due to the efforts that were put in the
industrialization sector. An imaginable, America created over a million of new jobs to its citizens
in this period of the second world war, a situation that reduced drastically the cases of
unemployment in the states. The industrial output of the united states overtook that of the entire
British Empire in the Continent. This was due to Democratization in Japan and the price inflation
in Denmark that actually was as a result of the second world war. Japan and Denmark were well
understood and known for their Economic Supremacy but the second world war made their
economic status to drop drastically and bankruptcy ventured in them leaving American States as
the only nations with a stable economy. It reached a point in the second world war when America's
11
RESEARCH PROPOSAL
supreme economy potential diminished due to ineffective political system, dysfunctional financial
system and some other labor conflicts. This is because, by then America had become a byword for
urban graft, had started greed issues in its politics due to mismanagement of growth, profit, and
production in firms. This situation prevailed for a short period of time and the power started
balancing visibly tilting from Europe to America, the Europe which by then was the most powerful,
could no longer sustain the costs of the offensive rival and could also not sustain the cut off from
the world trade and so was the other countries. It is during this time that the united states outfitted
their forces by installing larger and tough war orders. In 1946 the state bought more engines of
their fleets, more than a quarter of shell casings, more than three quarter of grain and almost all of
its oil from foreign suppliers. They took them to France who paid for the goods and services by
accumulating large bond issues to American sellers. By the end of the trade, America had
accumulated or invested two billion dollars in the country hence increasing its Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) more than any other country. This trade provided employment for so many people
who went selling the good. All this made the state to be termed as a superhero in the economic
sector. The bond issues kept by other countries to united states, kept them staggering behind, it is
during this time that American factories stopped being civilian to military production; that is
American local and nationwide farmers planted food and fiber to feed and clothe the combatants
in Europe. This action of feeding and clothing those who were affected by the war, made the United
Nations to earn its respect as a Global Hero (Super Power). After this title, the state acquired the
role of ensuring economic stability of the whole world due to its exercise of veto over security and
financial problems of other major states of the world. The Europe colonialism is also a minor
aspect that led to the building of United State Super Hero. European colonialism collapsed leaving
American Empire which colonized most African Countries at the out math of the second world

war. America had to be smart enough in order to assume its role as the Global Super Power after
the end of the second World War, since by then it had been involved into various destructions

states. (Sides, 2001)

Theory and Hypothesis
The main hypothesis in this research paper is that the changes and activities that took place in the
United States during the second world war contributed intensively towards them being crowned
as a World’s Superpower. I will explore instances in which the United States implemented intense
efforts and changes in order to cope with the demands of war and consequently stimulated their
economy, paving their way to higher global status.
Through this hypothesis, I aim to take a profound look specifically into the factors of the war which
fostered the rise of the nation. I will carry out the analysis of the historical research and try test
whether my null hypothesis has a significant difference with my alternative hypothesis. And if the
significant difference is negative or below by set p-value, then I will have to reject the null
hypothesis and the opposite is through.

Methodology
Case study area:
This research is to be conducted in the United States of America. I as a researcher am going to
employ statistical experts to help out in the desired sample size through professional calculation
with the required margin of error, confidence interval and degree of precision of the historical data
that was collected by various researchers. Since the data will be so much important for the solving
of the study problem that is, how did the Second World War contribute to the United States being
the Global Super Power? What factors that were involved in the Second World War led to the
crowning of the United States of America as the Global Super Power.
Collection of data
I as a researcher intend to use both the available historical data on the united states developments
during the second world war and even the first world war and interviews with the historical
researchers in this study. This is because seeking historical data from maybe archives is the best
way of collecting data since it covers all the required areas of study and answers all questions
appropriately. Moreover, the sampling techniques to be implied on these data will be the random
sampling techniques where each and every researcher's data is given same or equal probability to
be drawn into the sample. And this will ensure that the data collected is not bias and this will help
one make correct conclusions after the entire study and the results will be of a high precision level.
In additional to, I may choose to employ non sampling techniques for basically the interview
sessions. In this case, there is a need for me to have considerate factors that will enable me to
appropriately use the non-sampling technique.

Analysis of data
The data to be collected will be analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. Quantitatively by
use of a package Statistical Package of Social Sciences(SPSS) IBM version 21.0. or even
Microsoft Excel (2016). the results would be through descriptive statistics, this package will help
analyze, interpret and present the data through graphs histogram, graphs bars, pie charts and other
relevant analysis and inferential statistics through t-test 2 tailed chi-square and correlations.
Qualitatively through use of thematic analysis and results waged through the interview guide
questions. After data analysis is complete, then I will have all the answers to the questions that
were ringing in various people's mind on to what extent did the second world war help the United
States of America to be the Global Superpower.
This research will enable them to reveal various aspects and factors that the united states covered
which in return enable it to make a very big step to a point of being crowned the Global Superpower
Title. Will reveal the factors that played a major role in ensuring that the economy of America is
not threatened despite the fact that it spent a lot of costs in the war period. It will define the
challenges that may be America encountered in the process of struggling in order to become a
Global Super Power.

be done in such a hectic moment. America took part in the war, talk part of the economic
development in its states, took part in intervening various countries that were in war- that is by
giving a hand to countries of its choice and interest and as well as protecting its territories from
the naval fleets that could be sneaking to come make an attack. America stood steal in the spirit of
being the superpower of the globe and with no doubt, it took it no time before it showed its ability
