Response essay

In my opinion, conforming is good, but an individual should reflect the importance of
some norms. The norms of a society or a specific group of people can influence individual
behavior either negatively or positively. Therefore, it is important for an individual to make the
right decisions when conforming to the norms that are upheld by the society or a group. Norms
have the potential of influencing the manner in which people think, argue, make decisions and
behave and thus it is important for any person to have an understanding of the moral values that
are accepted by the entire world or the rule of law before conforming to some ideas that
counteract the welfare of the larger population (Posner, 2002).
The existence of law is critical to the issue of conforming on the grounds it focuses on the
welfare of the entire population. In this consideration, people need to conform to the various
laws and other issues that are set to benefit the society. Non-compliance means going against the
laid laws and thus it becomes complex on the grounds there are various punishments that are
outlined to deal with the people who fail to comply. In this consideration, the compliance leads
to the existence of a cohesive society where the people live as per the stipulated laws that means
well to the entire society. In the modern society, changes are being experienced every day and
thus it is the role of the leadership to adjust as per the expectation of the people (Carmi, Ammon,
& Schneider, 2013). The adjustment is an indication of embracing modernization and responding
to laws that guide people how to respond to the same. This will prevent the misuse of the new
technology to the extent of causing conflicts in a society.
In conclusion, compliance is good for a society to realize the desired cohesiveness and
reduce the conflicts that result when people are not in compliance.
