ARTICLE REVIEW 2
The article on newborn screening for fatal genetic disease is a scientific study, published
by Alex Azar. The government of the united state recommended it for the detection of newborns.
The many States have employed the screening while others are ongoing.
This article scrutinized on causes of inherited disorders that affected brains functioning
especially for young children resulting in the death of children when they are babies. The
sponsorship group in United States commended testing of the 4 million children born for SMA
and affected babies get treatment. February was ideal for screening by experts. The article
elaborated on the recommended drug called nusinersen though it was on continuous
experimentation (Wadman, M. 2018). Also, in case of delay would be a tragedy for children born
in the interim who may benefit from screening because they will miss the window for receiving
treatment when it is most effective," therefore fast approval is suggested on the issue.
The check of mutation in blood would be expensive hence information on its outcome
started before signs of the disease's article has not revealed much data because the trial is
ongoing therefore less information. John Scott was ‘concerned about not publishing peer review
literature' who directs children health service in Maryland, he is the analyst and queried the
existence of data. The article concluded on the importance of screening before symptoms to
prevent neuron destruction (Wadman, M. 2018).
On the other hand, the article got opposition from other scholars like Scott Shone who
showed the inconsistency that no one knows if the drug will help the children as they grow hence
becoming the shortcoming of the article
ARTICLE REVIEW 3
The article has edifying content that elaborates facts on health problem in United States
primarily in the prevention of mortality deaths. Spontaneous data and recommendation on the
screening of young children and also treating the infected babies hence curbing effect of fatal
disorder.
