Running Head: Scientific Revolution and enlightenment
critical analysis is enlightenment; changing society to a better one. Many writers were involved
in helping people critically understand everything in society by teaching them.
The Scientific Revolution influenced enlightenment as leaders believed in using methods of
science to explain human nature and society laws. Thinkers who were enlightened were very
much convinced that all problems in society could be solved and a better society would evolve.
Religion was a major focus instead of improving social and economic conditions in society,
making cultural movement secular.
France was the most highly country that developed in enlightenment because it was the centre
of culture in Europe, popular and wealthiest. In addition, language for the educated class was
French and its intellectuals had a battle with forces that were powerful from writers of Central
and Eastern Europe, in turn, intellectuals did not face challenges.
Philosophers in hand with critical thinkers of Europe widened enlightenment that was also
spread by French women through their salons. Conversely, women through hosting small
meetings in houses of Paris people promoted philosophers’ careers. This cultural movement led
to the discussion of women whereby their roles in society were most important. In addition, these
roles were traditional and women assigned to domestic work because of their limitation to
physiology.
In enlightenment, philosophers were interested in coming up with new thoughts to all
Europeans by educating the social and economic elites. Consequently, they were not allowed to
openly criticize the state or Church when spreading their messages to prevent banning of their
writings. In their meetings with public, they discussed philosophy, current affairs, and politics
that gave them much freedom in spreading their views.
