The primary character in a literary play by William Shakespeare Henry V's is the title character
king Henry, the leader of England. King Henry is depicted as the world best leader by
Shakespeare through his outstanding leadership and innovative skills stirring England into
success when situations seemed hopeless. The play invites the viewer/reader to view King Henry
as a religious, companionate, just and noble leader (Soni 4). King Henry has superb
administrative and communication skills which enabled him to communicate and motivate his
soldiers through his strong speeches that have been used by several world leaders during war
example during World War II as allied ships sailed towards Normandy. Every scene in the play
is constructed in a way to illustrate the character of the protagonist King Henry or that of minor
characters. King Henry in the Henry V is presented as he wages war against France and
eventually is victorious at the battle of Agincourt amidst all odds. He later forces the king of
France to consider him as his heir to him marrying his daughter Catherine.
The character of King Henry shaped by his actions and motives is admired by the
readers/audience all over the world. The admirable qualities of the king include his bravery,
humble, eloquence, and ability to remain cool despite during tough times. Additionally, King
Henry leadership and motivation action to speak with the soldiers before the battle of Agincourt
is admirable and even adopted by allied forces during World War 2. Throughout his tenure, King
Henry recognizes that the actions that make one a great king are determined by his abilities to
inspire and give hope to those he governed. This evident in every battle England went to during
his reign whereby he motivated his troops using his enthusiastic speeches to evoke zeal to
achieve their objectives (Soni 2).
