Should Single People be Able to Adopt Children as Easily as Couples?
The modern liberal culture has clouded societal decisions regarding the nature and
essential components of a family. Today, being a single parent is not a matter of concern since
people tend to choose their own lifestyle regardless of the cultural or religious views (Adamec
and Laurie 69). People would rather stay single than live in a destructive marriage that is full of
misery. Single people lack certain traits that hamper their potential and capability to adopt a
child.
Paternal and Maternal Influence
First and foremost, children need the support of a father and mother to espouse the values of a
family. Despite the modern social transformations, the presence of a mother and father plays a
significant role in molding a child’s perception of family and the world in general (Adamec and
Laurie 69). It takes both a man and woman to create a child, and they all are different in various
ways. As a result, a child will have much to learn from both parents compared to a single parent.
I would, therefore, firmly state that single parents should not be allowed to adopt children.
Responsibility
On the other hand, both the father and mother have respective roles and responsibilities to play
as a family. In most case, single parents are fully occupied with their routine chores that they
unconsciously forget to take care of their children (Bunge 83). I believe that a child is a big
