The research is one done to identify the effects of the gender and ethnicity of the people
on their career choices or how they view the careers. The study takes place by sampling a
population. The sample includes the different groups required for the study. It takes a lot of time
finding ways of randomly picking the participants to ensure unbiased data. The researchers have
to be ready to address and deal with the respondents that cannot understand English. They have
to be interviewed by researchers that understand both English and their language. The study took
place in a short period compared to what was expected. The cooperation made it easy for the
collection of data.
The participants chosen were young and were interested in the topic subject. Therefore,
they enjoyed sharing the information with the researchers. The resources were fully utilized in
the study. The time meant for the study was enough. The data was collected and analyzed at the
correct time. The information was available at the desired time. The methods of data collection
ensured that there was the ease in interpreting the data. The analysis of data was straightforward
due to the close-ended questionnaires. In addition, the discussion groups had issues that they had
to address. The objectives of the study were attained. The researchers ensured confidentiality
with the participants allowing smooth and successful interviews. The discussion groups had to
put down their ideas for future reference. The groups had the different people represented. It was
easy to control the groups allowing maximum cooperation and ease collection o from data in a
short period.
The study took place in an area that had all the ethnic groups required present. Their
representation had to be high so as to increase randomization. The study focused on the group of
people that were interested in career subjects. The aimed population had to be people above the
age of 17. The age group set as the minimum point of study involved the young people that were
choosing their careers and beginning to know their abilities. The issue was the career interests in
people and how it was affected by their ethnicity and genders. The goal or objective of the study
was to identify how much ethnicity and gender changed, career choices in people.The
hypotheses are clearly stated. One of them indicates that the gender affects the gender interests.
The other is that the ethnical backgrounds of the subjects determine the career interests.
The study involved both genders and the different ethnics. Therefore, it was ensured that
from both the variables were considered when collecting the data. The variables included in the
study are the gender of the subject or the participants, their ethnicity, and career choices. The
study is meant to show the effects of the current situation in the different professional fields. The
difference in the cultural backgrounds of people ensures that there is the difference in the beliefs
people have. Many people believe in different tasks performed by the different genders. There
will be the effect of the ethnical groups in the results. People define themselves according to
their origin. It is vital that most people do not forget their cultural teachings and abide by them.
There are changes that come from the development of the society and urbanization. People have
the abilities to perform some tasks, but they are denied the opportunities due to what they
The population was large, and the only way to obtain information was through getting a
sample. A sample is a part that provides information about the entire community. The sample is
preferred because it saves on cost and time. It would take a lot of time getting information from
all the entities in the society. The resources required would also cost a lot of money. The data
collected would be cumbersome and difficult to evaluate or analyze. Therefore, information from
samples is accurate and detailed. The researcher can exhaust all the questions they have on the
number of people chosen. The sample was selected randomly. There were no attributes checked,
and this increased the accuracy of the data. Simple randomization was executed. The members of
the population were given fair and equal opportunities to be involved in the sample. The
randomization ensured an unbiased example. It was easy to implement, and the equal chances
showed that there was enough representation of different groups. The size of the sample
depended on the available resources and the heterogeneity of the population. The researcher has
to ensure that they include people according to the dissimilarity of the population. When there
are differences with the people, the sample size increases to incorporate the different entities.
The resources available may limit or enable a desired research to take place. The resources are
like the number of researchers available and the tools. These tools include the questionnaires
intended for the research. The data was collected by administering questionnaires, interviewing,
and through focused group discussions (FGD). The sample was provided with close-ended
questionnaires. These questions need one to mark on the correct answers provided below the
queries. These kind of questions make it easy for the researcher to analyze the data. They also
save time. The respondents face little or no difficulties when answering the questions.
Questionnaires are suitable for future references. The entire population had 1575 people. These
people were above 17 years and were considered to have decided on their careers. A sample of
150 people was obtained. The population had a variety of people from the different ethnical
background. The range of people had to be included in the sample increasing the size and
creating unbiased. The 150 people were split into two groups. The first group was given
questionnaires to fill. The other group was interviewed. The interviewing benefited from the
research. Many of the respondents provide informative and sincere data. The entire sample took
place in the discussion groups. They sat in groups of ten. There were 15 groups which put down
their issues and ideas down on paper. The researchers get the papers and analyze the information
provided. The study ensured that there were questions for the groups to discuss. The objectives
of the study were achieved. The groups discussed the issues presented to them. The researchers
had an easy time analyzing the data and getting the answers to their questions. The independent
variables are the genders and ethnicity of the respondents. These variables may change, and these
changes lead to the variation of results of the dependent variable. The dependent variable in the
study is the career choices. The choices of the career depend on the gender and background of
the participants.
The data was analyzed after the collection. There was a process of correcting mistakes
made in the initial analysis of data. The information is filled in forms. The report is done to avoid
errors made before the computation of the data. The data is then entered or fed to the computer
for more arithmetic analysis. The information is stored for future reference. The respondents
were responsive. However, the challenges faced were the language barriers which were solved.
The cost needed for traveling to the interviewees was more than what was estimated. The group
of researchers had to come up with more money for the travel cost. All the efforts made were
positive and led to successful research.
The questionnaires indicated that the different people in the population were involved in
the research. The results were considered to be accurate. The interviews provided information
that was needed. The interviews showed that most people were afraid of being judged and
discriminated against. A small portion did not worry about what other people thought about their
choice of career. The information from the interviews and the focused discussion groups showed
that the people considered what their parents told them. A large number of people follow advice
from their guardians. They end up taking careers that they did not want maybe because they
wanted to make their parents proud and happy. The focused group discussions showed that the
society was suffering from discrimination of people according to their ethnical backgrounds. The
different participants have to lead to the different results. Therefore, the independent variables
point to the results in the dependent variable.
The questionnaires showed that many people had interests in their careers due to their
ethnical groups and genders. 58 people out of the 75 that were administered with the inquiries
marked their career interests according to the sexes. 60 people out of the entire people that filled
the surveys with the home background information behind their heads. Most of the Asians were
very interested in the medical Scientists and dentists because most of them are usually Asians.
The black people showed interest and ambition from the interviews and the discussion groups.
The correctional officers being black did not interest most of the white people. 15% of the white
people had interest with black correctional officers and black nurses. 100% were very interested
with the doctor, lawyers, CEO careers. The white females showed interest in the lawyers’ slot.
The women had the habit of discriminating themselves or making themselves feel inferior. It was
a negative response that reflected what the society makes them feel.
The ethnicity, gender, and the social perspective define the career choices. A large
number of the respondents chose their interests according to their ethical backgrounds and
gender. Some professional careers such as nursing are picked by most females than males. Males
are known to be the CEOs and doctors. Therefore, the women were not interested in those career
opportunities. However, some of the men appreciate the professionals that are not acknowledged
by most, this indicates that there will be a gradual acceptance of the careers over time. Some of
the decisions made are as a result of the way the society molds and defines people. The society
has its way of conforming people are restricting them from exploring things.
There is a particular interest in the psychological and social factors. The different gender
perspectives depend on the two elements. The mental aspect is about the individual. An
individual chooses to believe in whatever they do and have the power to achieve whatever they
desire. It is only possible for one to accomplish so much if they understand. It is difficult to work
on something before thinking about it. The social factor brings along the society. It includes
where people are brought up from and the teachings taught to them. The friends and people
around us also add up to the choices one makes. If the people around one do not motivate them
to go get whatever they desire by all means, then it becomes hard to get the courage to do so. The
people around us may build or make us. Therefore, they have an effect on people. The
psychological and social factors have an impact on the decision people make on subjects they
pick in school or the careers. There are theories developed from the researches done before. The
factors are leading to the individual choosing their professional paths according to their genders
due to what they are made to believe. The males are considered to be more confident compared
to the females.
There are a lot of opportunities open for people of any type of gender and ethical group.
Many suffer because of the fear of being judged. The society defines which career professionals
are above others. There is the ranking of careers which makes others appear inferior. Many
people want to pursue careers that are superior according to the society. The ethnical groups are
attached to the discrimination. Females have been an image of inferiority and weakness in most
communities. They are expected to perform well in opportunities that involve cleaning and
cooking duties. It is encouraging to have some people that have the courage to perform some
tasks. It is assumed that the males perform better in mathematics compared to the females. The
assumption makes the women not have the courage to take on some tasks or careers. The
government and society have to assist the young people to know what they desire to do and work
on their goals despite the hindrances. The opportunities have to be open to all genders and all
people. The creation and awareness of what lies ahead in some tasks make the young people
want to achieve more without doubting themselves. The judgmental society hinders some
potential in young people. When the community embraces the careers as opportunities to
improve the economy and not as gender-based jobs, the people will be comfortable to explore
and discover their abilities in certain professionalism.
The government should provide people that have succeeded in careers as counselors.
They will equip the young people with the information needed for them to choose their jobs
depending on their abilities and passion wisely. It is crucial for the nation to have people that
work with enthusiasm. The economy of the country benefits from growing and expanding. The
positive results ensure that the future is safe from discrimination. There are people that will
benefit more from the information provided by the people who have had experiences in the
particular fields.
