SPEECH 3
As a hospital, the adoption of EHR will help us improve healthcare service delivery. It
will not only boost the confidence of our clients, but it will also encourage productivity on the
part of our staff. The efficiency of this system will attract grants from stakeholders and also
motivate insurance companies to partner with the hospital. Instant access of patient information
by physicians will ensure proper attention to emergency cases and proper administration of
medication. EHR will guarantee quick retrieval of patients’ information, reduce paperwork,
ensure durability of patient information, and relieve the hospital of fines which may occur due to
readmission of patients whose data has been lost. Furthermore, the login and password system
will help in ensuring confidentiality of patient information. Users of the system will be easily
traceable using the login details, this will help in curbing leakages by unauthorized personnel
(Tan J and Payton F., 2014). EHR will also guarantee quick and efficient sharing of patient
information from one hospital to another through a local sharing network.
When we compare the two sides of the coin, we notice that the benefits of EHR outweigh
its disadvantages. Other than the short-term goals which it presents, EHR will also be beneficial
in the future. It is an investment worth making for improvement of service delivery. I, therefore,
passionately appeal to the management of this hospital to adopt this system, train the
practitioners on its use, and stand apart as a model to many other medical facilities which are still
undecided on its adoption.
