An upright leader should not unveil values similar to Hamlet’s whereby he considered
appointing Fortinbras to be his successor for the reason that they mutually engaged in taking
revenge for their fathers’ demise. Hamlet’s madness leads him to commit revenge for the death
of his father who was the King. Their revenge is an emotion-guided act in preference to being
lawfully right. Besides, Horatio’s petition as regards the throne of Denmark’s progression was
rejected by Hamlet in opposition that Horatio is non- Danish. As a good leader Hamlet should
have considered the fact that Fortinbras is also a Norwegian instead of being unmitigated Danish.
Hamlet understood that Horatio who was an ignoble immigrant couldn’t make a universal King
that could rule over Denmark’s Kingdom. This is not in order as what it takes to be a good king
is liberated on the basic ethnic group.
On the other hand, Hamlet’s stand of relying on his father’s apparition is a doing that has
no confirmation to authenticate his energies of murder in pursuit of payback. This expanse to an
authorized swindle as Hamlet had no perceptible proof. In the case between Horatio and
Fortinbras, Fortinbras should be set out and Horatio should be raised to power since Horatio was
a trusted and true friend as compared to Fortinbras. This is because Denmark needs a prince who
is trusted by all the people after death of Hamlet who was a gentle, loving prince and greatly
beloved for his many prince like and noble qualities. The kingdom of Denmark with the loss of
its entire noble family would be thrown in social and political chaos if strong leadership doesn’t
take the reign.
2
Furthermore, Horatio happened to be a very skeptical, calm individual with a composed
attitude. Hamlet also happened to entrust Horatio with all the tasks of narrating all the stories
after his death, this is for the reason that Horatio understands him more than Fortinbras.
Fortinbras being the prince of Norway is not certified to rule in Denmark. When we take a look
at Fotinbras fate it is parallel to Hamlet’s interests. Fortinbras uses the soldierly force that creates
him as the greatest descendant regardless of the uncle’s retaliation. Additionally, Fortinbras has
joined in efforts of taking vengeance for his father’s death as opposed to following the right
lawful networks about implementation of these types of duties. This status quo reduces his
relations to be below standard in contract with the regulation thus he is unworthy to lead
Denmark.
Moreover, Horatio happens to be the closest associate to Hamlet in addition to unveiling
a warm emotional bond together. Horatio being Hamlets friend he supported and guided him in
time of crisis and even got worried that Hamlet would kill himself due to Ophelia’s death and
ghosts’ appearance. Hamlet professes his faith in Horatio and even praises his qualities. Hamlet’s
loving veneration as regards to Horatio is asserted in “The New Doubt”. On the contrary, Horatio
was well acquainted with each route that Hamlet functioned through and hence can make an
elegant King. In the end, Hamlet discloses a nonexistence of practical awareness concerning the
truth when he overrides the necessity to show a substantial certainty in his ghost father. This
correlation increases his madness; therefore he is incapable of making a sensible as well as
comprehensive choice to affirm the King of Denmark as Fortinbras.
3
Fortinbras is also set on attacking Denmark as he has raised an army and think the loss of
Denmark’s king will make it easier for him to claim property as it is still unstable. The Danish
rebels are also not happy with the accession of Fortinbras as the new inheritor. However, from
the acts Claudius is acquainted with the fact that the young heir is not considered the right person
to come up to power. In scene 6 of act 4, Horatio who is expected to stand as the right
descendant, writes about his seizure by dint of the pirates while he was travelling to England. He
therefore dies for his country as the thieves of mercy had captured him. Therefore, he is the right
individual to be the heir apparent. He further aided in freeing the prince which was to be used as
the repay to Denmark. In addition, the letter inscribed to Horatio by Hamlet, Hamlet asks
Horatio to come to him in order to ensure that the king receives all the intended to him.
In conclusion, the struggle of the battle for the success of the throne is seen clearly that
Fortinbras need to be deployed so that Horatio ascends to power. The actor Laertes pretends to
offer an apology to the Hamlets in order to receive the offer. This is a clear indication that
Horatio was the right person to ascend to power. I so thought to High Tribunal of Denmark that
Horatio deserve to be the one who puts on the sovereignty’s crown.
