Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs was an entrepreneur and inventor in the field of information technology. He
was the core founder, CEO and chairman of Apple Inc., a major shareholder, and CEO of Pixar
Animations Studios and a founder. Additionally, he was the chairman and CEO of a company
known as Next Inc. He is recognized as the pioneer of the microcomputer revolution which
occurred between the 1970s and 1980s. After the death of Steve Jobs, his personal biographer
referred to him as a creative entrepreneur who had a passion for perfection. His drive led to a
revolution in six industries, namely the personal computers, phones, music, animated movies,
digital publishing and tablet computing. Steve Jobs held that the best way to create value in the
twenty-first century was to connect technology and creativity. His achievements and traits serve
as a motivation among many entrepreneurs.
The achievements of Steve Jobs proves that he was indeed an entrepreneur. In 1976, he
cofounded Apple company which had grown to be one of the most values companies in the
world by October 2011. In 1997, Jobs saved the country from bankruptcy. He also helped in the
transformation of many industries and is counted among the great achievers such as Henry Ford,
Thomas Edison and Walt Disney (Martin & Osberg, 2007). The men are remembered in history
for application of their imagination in business and technology.
The biography of Jobs is known to inspire many entrepreneurs especially because of the
remarkable personality. His personality played an integral role in his way of doing business. He
behaved as if the normal rules did not apply to him and was driven by extreme emotionalism,

and passion, qualities that were also reflected in the quality of products he produced. Impatience
and petulance were part of his perfection, and this contributed to the production of quality
products and thoughts (Audia & Rider, 2005). He believed in identifying his passion and doing
what he loved passionately. He was guided by some entrepreneurial skills such as resiliency,
focus, risk taking, self-reliance, decision-making skills, optimism, persistence, innovativeness
and problem-solving skills.
Jobs was focused on the production of quality products and the achievement of his goals
and objectives. He also engaged in activities that involved a considerably high level of risk and
had good decision-making skills which helped him to save Apple from collapsing one year after
its establishment. He was also optimistic and determined to deliver quality services and in
ensuring success of the businesses under him. His innovativeness incorporated his ability to
recognize opportunities and act on them creatively to come up with a viable idea for
implementation (Blank, 2013). Although he had several weaknesses, Jobs was productive in his
undertakings. The success was attributed to his personality and skills which promoted
entrepreneurship.
Jobs died at the age of 56 on 5th October 2011 leaving behind a legacy in the field of
entrepreneurship. Both the personality and the experience of Jobs reflects that he was a known
entrepreneur with the ability to come up and implement viable business decisions in the field of
business and technology. Jobs was the founder of Apple company, a company that has gained
global recognition in the global market due to the production of quality electronic products.
Additionally, he had strong entrepreneurial skills such as decision making, problem solving,
innovativeness, persistence and risk-taking skills. These skills led to his success as a business
person.
