Student’s Struggle with Full-Time Jobs
Introduction
One of the critical aspects of the life of every human being is to get a good education.
Education enlightens the society and enhances quick innovation as this has always made life
more comfortable. In this case, students have to strive for their performance and development of
their studies as this will give them the quality education. However, the current economy seems to
favor neither students nor any other person in the society. For this reason, students are forced to
get full-time jobs for them to attain their educational goals. Some of the students who work while
still attending school are very responsible in future. Responsibility starts when young when one
is given some responsibilities. Although some students are forced by circumstances to work,
others do it out of passion. Having a full-time job and full-time class to attend has not been a
smooth run at all for most of the students (Leathwood et al., 597). There is pressure as the
student has to achieve and perform in both work and studies. The analysis below will examine
how students try to balance between full-time job and full-time studies as well as the struggles
they face.

According to many people, the experience of multitasking studies and work is
overwhelming since the student has to achieve in both. Although the school is the major event,
work also becomes an important thing at the moment. Even thou students struggle to meet both
targets at work and studies; they can successfully meet their educational expenses. Most of the
students in America chose to work while they are still attending to their studies. The main
significant reason for working and studying at the same time is to be able to meet their financial
needs. For instance, the students can sustain their living expenses as well as pay their fees instead
of getting loans. According to many psychologists, students are advised to work for the average
of 10 to 15 hours in every week. By working for these hours in a week, students get enough time
to attend to their studies, and the assignments are given. Unfortunately, due to the current harsh
economy, working for these 10 to 15 hours in a week students are not able to raise enough
money for their expenses. The students are therefore forced to choose full-time jobs that will
raise enough money for their expenses in studies as well as living expenses. Enough finances for
school expenses will prevent the students from having debts after school for loans which they
would have used for school costs.
Meeting educational and living expenses are not the only benefit that these students who
choose to work get. It makes them responsible in many ways in their early days of life. With
such a tight schedule, the student masters how to keep time. Time management is one of the
essential skills that any employer would love to notice from the workers. Managing time well
may earn them promotion in an advanced position once they clear their studies. It will also help
the students draft a clear plan on how to efficiently attend to both studies and work. Even thou
many people view this kind of multi-tasking to be overwhelming, the student can accomplish
both task and reviews with the high discipline of time. There are also other skills and values that

students learn from handling their own money. The working students get to understand the
importance and worth of personal funds. Through this, budgeting skills eventually change for
working students as they gain the discipline of spending the money. It is one of the critical ways
for students to learn the importance of mature spending. It enlightens them on what to spend to
and what not to waste cash on.
Students in full-time work which is related to their major class course are on the safer
side. Since most of the schools offer only theory studies, working students who are practicing
their major are likely to get permanent absorption after they graduate from their studies in that
firm (Thomas, 423). The employers are not ready to recruit workers who are not skilled in the
practice of their major areas. This is why these working students have the high probability of
getting employed immediately she clears with her studies. Multitasking skills too will be an
added advantage in their line of work because every employer would prefer a worker who can
multi-task. Studies show that full-time jobs while still in school is the best opportunity for
students to network. Networking enhances the exposure of the students in a broader way. This
kind of exposure helps the students to improve their communication skills as well as
interpersonal skills which will help the students in the corporate world.
Students who are in the job market are more accessible to advance faster than those
students who are not working. They have a high advantage of securing a better job when they
finish school than the rest of the students. They acquire good experience which is the most
important thing when it comes to employment. Employers mostly consider working students for
future promotion and direct employment. This is because the fact that they were able to handle
both studies and work, it shows that they are hardworking and reliable at the same. Meeting both
goals as a young person shows that this student is a competent person despite the pressure.

Commitment is also expressed in this type of a working student. These are skills that are likely to
gain them employment after school. Studies show that students who have full-time jobs and full-
time classes perform better grades than students who have a lot of free time (Moreau et al., 23).
Full time working students use the less time they have and concentrate on their studies. Since
they understand how tight their schedule is, they have no time to lazy around but to attend to
their studies. This positively impacts their performances.
Unfortunately, some opponents feel like the full time working students are being denied
some of their basics needs like having their own time. They say that the entire time working
students have no time to socialize, get enough sleep or even eat healthy since they are always in
a hurry (Vickers et al., 34). But, it is possible for a full time working student and full time
studying to achieve in both. There are several factors which should be considered, and the
critical factor here is passion. If this student has got the passion for the work and education, then
it will be possible to deliver in both. The second factor that the working students should have is
positivity. Positivity helps the full time working students to value both work and studies and
strive towards meeting their respective set goals. If the students perceive this as a load, then it
will be difficult for her or him to deliver efficiently.
Conclusion
Even thou many people feel balancing full-time work, and full-time studies is a
challenge, the well-planned schedule will make it easier. Before engaging in full-time
employment, both student and the employer should have an explicit contract. They should also
involve the school, for instance, the professor so that he or she may also offer guidance regarding
lecture hours. The work contract should be followed strictly as this will help the students

organize her or his class work. The employer should not create time conflicts by extending
working hours because this will inconvenience the students (Robotham, 65). The professor
should as well know this work plan and agreement so that he or she can plan when to offer exam
papers when all the students are present. From the analysis above, it is clear that despite the
oppositions from people, it is accomplishable for the full time studying students to work full
time. All these students need is to self-examine themselves to ensure that they can handle the
pressure of such multitasking. There are also essential skills which need to be used here and such
as are organizational skills, prioritization skills as the well great discipline. Therefore, if a
student can multi-task school and work, then he or she should go for it. The extra cash will not
only help the student in school but even after school.
