ASSIGNMENT 2
Super Bowl 2018
A recent article on why some Eagles fans rioted after winning the Super Bowl will be my
recent article on psychology. The article was drafted on 5
th
Feb, 2017 by the Fortune and it
explains why fans who won an event ended up rioting. Does it show who, well really hates Bill
Belichick and Tom Brandy? After winning the game, the Philadelphia Eagle fans took to the
streets and used the event to riot. The Eagles fans have a reputation of being rowdy and
aggressive. In order to understand why the Philadelphia and other cities fans behave in such a
manner, psychology could be used to unleash the twisted as well as the counterproductive
behavior of the fans (Tolman, & BCI, 2016).
From the Tolman, & BCI, (2016) psychological wisdom, acts of aggression and violence
are instigated by anger, fear, or negative emotions. To some extent, positive emotions could be
triggered by the brain’s pleasure and this motivates destructive behavior. When the fans won the
game, their minds received it as a token of good money they have won or even a tasty beverage
they took. Wining has a significant consequence to the mind and affects the general behavior. In
this case, the herd behavioral science has a role in the phenomenon that was experienced after
the winning of the game. This explains the notion behind the aggressive behavior of the fans and
how interesting it seems to be to many of us (Gollwitzer, 2014).
