Team Leadership Questions
1. Innovation is one of the beacons of teamwork in the organization. When organizations
want to experience creativity, they in most cases promote situations where people work in
groups. However, as the management, it is important to note that there are those
conditions that make an innovation to thrive in a team. One of these settings that leaders
should focus on is ensuring that the team operates in a relaxed and flexible environment.
What this means is that the organization should try to reduce many bureaucracies that
hinder creativity. It is important to note that innovative employees operate effectively in
an environment where there are reduced disruptions. When a team tries to brainstorm,
and it happens that they are supposed to seek permission about that aspect they are
deliberating on, most of them get demoralized.
Second, the organization should ensure that during the formation of teams, there
is diversity. It is inconsequential for a group in the organization to have members who
share professional competencies, job experience, and even personality. A team should
have people with diverse capacities, and this will ensure that everyone contributes
uniquely towards the achievement of an innovative idea.
2. In the article, “Turning Virtual Strangers into Virtual Teams: Best Practices” by Dr.
Howard Esbin, the focus is on how organizations can achieve operational virtual teams.
According to the article, people are pessimistic about virtual teams. However, Dr. Esbin

indicates that organizations should focus on creating trust in its workforce. When the
entire workforce is qualified, then sharing information on online platforms will not be a
daunting task.
3. Interpersonal skills contribute both negatively and positively towards a person's
experience in a group. Personally, I believe that positivity is one of the skills that helped
me to have favorable experiences with the other members of the group. I was supportive
towards people who appeared to have difficulties. I used this skill to motivate group
members towards having the hope for success even when we were experiencing
unimaginable obstacles. However, being excessively tolerant of other people's behavior is
a trait that turned out to be a weakness to my interactions with the team. Most people felt
that I was either too submissive and I did not have principles that were required in
making strategic decisions. In most cases, I concurred or showed rare opposition to ideas
that appeared irrelevant towards the objective of our team. 
I believe that effective listening skills are one of the approaches that can earn me
a promotion. Listening is ideal because it gives a person an opportunity to learn about
others. Leaders need to understand others in an organization. People who do not listen
will not get the opportunity to learn about others' needs. Leadership is a concept where a
person needs to know how to handle others respectfully, and this can only be enhanced
through listening skills.
After going through the learning outcomes of this course, the experience has
made me learn new ways of existing in a team. The first revelation from this course is
that teamwork provides an opportunity for people to learn from each other. When people
come together, they get the chance to empower each other. Second, I have realized that

that the success of a team is hinged on the capacity to promote effective communication.
When people communicate, then, the group is likely to meet its objectives within the
stipulated period. Lastly, with the exposure of concepts from this course, I have come to
realize the demerits of individualism. When someone hides his or her skill from others,
then such a talent would be noticed in the organization. 
