The Americans with Disabilities Act
Equality has not been a common thing to people with disabilities but this Act has been of
great help to many Americans who have various kinds of disabilities. Many cases have been
resolved by the ADA of people violating their employees while at work. The ADA comes in to
ensure that employees are protected from being mistreated in their places of work and that they
get equal opportunities.
Initially it was a requirement that a medical examination be conducted before anyone
asked for a job offer. It was only after ADA intervened that this routine was stopped. However,
there were issues when they were not able to handle certain issues like discrimination when
people were joining the army or cadet. Later an agreement was made between the Illinois State
Police and the ADA and they made it illegal for anyone to access information about applicants
even before they were examined. Following the agreement people with disabilities were able to
get equal opportunities. Discriminatory laws were enacted on people with disabilities as agreed
by the Federal government and the ADA.
The Americans with disabilities act has set a base where policies are made for the people
who are disabled. Also, policies have been made through the same platform to seek equal
employment rights for all. These laws have also been implemented as several cases have been
dealt with. Discrimination was based on factors like the inability to work, gender, being deaf

and childbirth problems among others. Those who became victims majorly in this were women
in this case.
Cases have been reported where employers with disabilities have been denied some privileges
like accommodation yet they can work just like anyone else. Others are targeted by screening
procedures to discriminate them so that they can miss out a chance more so the ones disabled.
The new laws changed this and people could not be discriminated based on he disabilities
because they could still operate normally. An example is the Kentucky case where Florence was
protected against discrimination against any risk. She was also warned against revenging against
anyone who had previously tried to oppress her. At the end of it all the laws were used as a result
of ADA persisting.
The American disabilities Act has also ensured that people get monetary damages for previous
cases they have experienced undergoing discrimination. This is true as explained in the United
States District Eastern District in Virginia. The plaintiff did have a termination at work and at the
same time denied accommodation. She had been discriminated against the ADA regulations. The
plaintiff had a physical disability that limited her from getting her cardiovascular operation. She
was terminated from her work in 2013. After a ruling the court declared that she be granted full
rights and retain her job position as the deputy sheriff as well as the full benefits others get.
Some of these benefits included housing benefits that is accommodation.
