The Aristotle philosophy
The question of how the image of a human being can be described is unique.
Whether human beings have a universal human essence or unchanging bio-psychological core.
Another question is whether a human is more like an artichoke that is formed in the layers of
gender, ethnicity, class, sexuality, historical epoch, age or the degree of social power (Leslie,
David and Peter 261). According to Abraham Maslow a psychologist of the 20th century, “The
trouble is that the human species is the only species which finds it hard to be a species.” (Leslie,
David and Peter 261). The book “Theories of Human Nature” has an outline the twelve
conceivable responses to the query of what ‘human beings’ means.
According to me, the most meaningful philosophy was the one inscribed by
Aristotle. Aristotle was a prehistoric scientist and philosopher from Greece. Aristotle along with
Plato is well thought-out as the Father of Western Philosophy. This was between 384-322BC
after his birth in the north of Classical Greece in Stagira city. The western Philosophy inherited
almost its complete lexicon from Aristotle’s teachings. This included the methods of inquiry and
problems. This has had an influence in nearly all forms of knowledge. Aristotle gives an account
of the end or purpose or meaning of human life. The philosophy impacted the Christian

Theology, Islamic and Jewish traditions and the Formal and natural language logic. In his
writings, only a third of them exists today.
The goal of the Aristotelian Philosophy was to put into words the essential
principles and concepts in all areas. Aristotle created a knowledge foundational structure that
remained unquestionable and dominant in the areas of psychology, biology, and physics until the
17th century. Aristotle made the writings as lecture notes which were outlined systematically,
technically and in abstract. The subject comprised of The Nicomachean Ethics, the poetics, the
politics, the physics and the Metaphysics.
The treatise by Aristotle was the first task in the philosophy’s history to bear the
“Metaphysics” title. Nevertheless, the philosopher did not use the word Metaphysics and also did
not it as his study field. The first century C.E. editor is the person who evidently coined the name
(Leslie, David and Peter 263). He assembled the Aristotle’s Metaphysics treatise from the works
of Aristotle. The metaphysics title probably designated the topics and places discussed within
were envisioned to subjugate in the logical curriculum.
The subject matter of Aristotle was described differently including theology,
wisdom, the study of being qua being or as first philosophy. Aristotle had an outline describing
the human nature and the soul as a set of dimensions. According to Aristotle, a soul is a
description of how a living being functions and operates. The certain kind of an organism is
described by the form of the living thing. These theories were not in agreement with Plato’s
dualism that the soul was a material substance and that it would be present outside the body of
the living thing even after death (Leslie, David and Peter 156). The human psyche was

designated as a characteristic constellation of abilities that include functioning, reasoning and is
essential to the human way of living.
According to the study of human nature as outlined in the book “Theories of
Human Nature,” man is a political animal which relates to being social and civic (Leslie, David
and Peter 61). The cranes, ants, bees, and men are social animals because they have similar
single acts common to all of them. Aristotle’s paradigm was the Greek state Polis which had a
population of ten thousand people. In this context, the study showed that human beings’ nature
attains the complete development just when they live as an organized society member. Aristotle
also made a description of his view on the term happiness. In Greek happiness is referred to as
“Eudaimonia.” Aristotle defined it as Blessedness, Felicity, flourishing or fulfillment. He also
termed it as pleasure due to fame, honor, and prestige.
Conclusion
This philosophy was the most meaningful to me because Aristotle investigated
logic. He endorsed methodical thought and observation in ethics, literature, law, physics, and
biology. The philosophical system explains all the things that the people of Aristotle’s times
knew. He enhances the understanding of human beings. The concepts and ideas of this
philosophy can be applied by the learner by understanding the human life and the social and physical
aspects of their lives. I can also use the concepts in recognizing the characteristics of human beings and
what is good for them that can contribute to happiness in general.
