The Benefits of Yoga on the Mind, Body, and Soul
There is a plethora of challenges in life; just as there are countless solutions to each
challenge. A greater threat is finding a comprehensive solution to all of life’s problems. Moat
psychologists posit that natural remedies have a far- reaching effect compared to synthetic
solutions such as drugs. Furthermore, they recommend yoga as a solution for most of life’s
issues. There are three benefits that are characteristic of yoga: The calming and conditioning
of the mind, the expansion of abilities, and finally the improvement of physical health. These
benefits can be summarized into the effects of yoga on the mind, body, and soul. Yoga
relieves anxiety and depression, helps in dealing with hardships, and increases physical
flexibility.
Yoga is critical in the reduction of anxiety and depression. The practices in yoga
divert the participant’s attention from the gravity of their issues to their internal strength in
overcoming them (Reynolds, 2018). By enhancing an individual’s ability to meditate on their
natural strength, yoga offers a personalized solution to one’s problems. This affects the mind
and eventually the entire body. The mind controls the entire body. All emotions, beliefs and
subsequent physical states are generated from the mind. If the mind is healthy, then the whole
body follows suit. In this regard, it is clear that yoga has a positive impact on the mind.
The ability to overcome hardships is acquired. Scientists from the college of health
sciences in Harvard have established that pragmatism is acquired and not inherited. Similarly,
the system of tasks and routines in yoga are designed to develop one’s ability to work around
obstacles. Moreover, repetition builds confidence and boosts self esteem (Turner, 2013). This
enhances an individual’s capacity to handle the hardships in life. The routines in yoga offer a
simplified training ground for life’s hurdles. In this regard, practising yoga eventually builds

one’s ability to work around their obstacles; hence impacting your soul. The soul is
responsible for character traits. Likewise, practising yoga positively impacts the soul.
The blatant effect of yoga is that of improved flexibility. Yoga promotes physical and
psychological health (Gannon & Life, 2011). The moves in yoga practice are physically
demanding. To fully execute them, one has to develop a high degree of physical fitness. This
means repetitive workout routines and stretching. Furthermore, such repetition develops a
sense of discipline that is carried throughout life. Moreover, constant stretching and twisting
makes the participant flexible. Flexibility helps in avoiding diseases such arthritis and
varicose veins. Likewise, people who practice yoga expand the limits of their cap[abilities.
This means that their imaginations, physical abilities as well as psychological abilities are
flexible enough to accommodate the changing times.
In conclusion, the benefits of yoga on the mind, body, and soul are numerous.
Primarily, yoga reduces anxiety and depression. Although life is marred with challenges,
yoga harnesses the internal strength of a participant to deal with such challenges. Secondly,
yoga trains the participant in the art of overcoming obstacles on their way. Through acquiring
the patience of repeating routines, one is able to develop the will to counter hardships.
Finally, yoga builds physical fitness. The patterns in yoga are demanding; hence the
participants are forced to push their bodies to maximum flexibility. In return, this prevents the
development of lifestyle diseases such a arthritis. These are the effects of yoga on the mind,
body, and soul.
