The Influence of Culture and Environment in One’s Life
Culture is the behavior and norms that function as a guide for a group of people.
Different people across the globe have different perception in relation to their culture and
tradition thus making culture diverse. Most people use culture as a symbol of unity and a
mechanism of instilling discipline within a community. On the other hand, the environment is
the surrounding of an individual. Culture and environment have an influence on the behavior
of the people and have a great influence on their lives.
Culture and environment are considered to influence the life of an individual both
positively and negatively. Culture influences the life of an individual in a positive manner by
regulating the conduct of an individual. In this case, a community believes that a certain
culture will educate their children and other members of the community to believe in that
respective culture like loving one another. In addition, culture enables children to grow up to
be respectful members of the society (Becket & Gifford, 2007, p. 18). On the other hand,
culture discourages wrong-doing like theft and bribery in the society. Communities always
regard it as illegal and punishable by fines or separation from the community. People always
respect and try to be in line with their respective cultural beliefs. Furthermore, culture
influences the life of an individual in that it creates a sense of belonging. That is, one can
identify himself with a particular group based on their language, mode of dressing as well as
their belief.
The environment is considered to be an important aspect of the life of an individual. It
is considered vital for people to be conscious of their respective environment for it
contributes a lot in their life. For instance, most parents consider their children environment
to be an aspect of concern. In this case, children end up learning a lot of things from their
