Alan Moore’s comic writing characterizes six radical ways to perceive moral comprehension.
Actions and decisions taken by superheroes herein contain inference that poses argumentative
reasons as to whether they reflect what society legends ought to do. Ozymandias (Adrian Veidt)
is a superhero who unveils the character of a determined persona. He imparts the personality of a
capitalist and modern revolutionized mind. He is not contented of the status quo. He exhibits
intellectual capacity that challenges other characters. Ozymandias executes his inventions without
liaising .He has a role model at such a young age which sets him ready to face the world and its
challenges. Ozymandias exhibits curiosity at his tender age unlike many children of his age. Moore
uses Ozymandias to convey the enthusiastic nature of corporates. Capitalist actively engage there
mind in solving problems, experiment various kind of projects and on the dissatisfaction of results,
they embark on alternatives. Capitalists who are not guided on moral aspirations would turn
hazardous to the larger community. Demystifying this balance, we embark on Ozymandias role
play through the script.
Ozymandias draws inspiration from Alexander the great, a king to the ancient Greek who
established a great empire. Similarly, Ozymandias derives his ambitious nature from Ramses II,
the Egyptian Pharaoh who is regarded as the most successful and powerful Pharaoh of all
dynasties. The name Ozymandias is nicknamed to this pharaoh. Ozymandias has become as

powerful as Alexander the Great and Ramses II, the two men he idolizes, through a determined
effort to perfect the mental and physical abilities that lie within every human being (Hughes 552).
Recognition of people you want to be like in the future is not just a simple task. Ozymandias has
a conscious concern to serve the community at a young age. Also, he focuses on establishing a
dynasty that serves in great royalty. These are way extraordinary qualities a young mind should
possess. From this feature, Moore distinguishes the sense of an industrialist to the typical person.
Active engagement of Ozymandias with his role models works prepares his psychological
preparedness to venture in the corporate world.
Adrian is orphaned at the age of sixteen, and this does not blur his vision and dreams. He
lives on to fight another day. Adrian’s enthusiasm is of vital importance. Reflection in a modern
world contextual setup, it’s unquestionable that most of the orphans in the world today are either
in an orphanage or struggling in the streets. Well, this phenomenon is arguably acceptable with
the conditions that present the modern person. Lack of school fees for children orphaned at tender
ages unlike Adrian is a significant setback to actualizing a dream. The harsh conditions that a
modern orphaned child is subjected to, almost nullify his ability to live up to the tasking life.
However, the value one derives from Ozymandias is when to and when not to give up our dreams.
Additionally, the corporate world is full of challenges. Weak minds can never flourishes. It calls
for that persevering nature that even when things go wrong, there is energy to press on.
Moreover, when Adrian’s father dies, Adrian gives to the community all the property and
leaves to start a fresh beginning of his own. He seeks a self-worth purpose. Adrian is not tied to
his father’s belonging that would probably limit his abilities (Wein et al. n.p). He implies that the
extents of someone else’s pursuit should not define who a person is or how far the person can get.
On the contrary, it’s regarded an advantageous position when persons are born of rich
Surname 3
backgrounds. This is extensively true as the level playing ground of graduate is never the same.
As some graduates seek job placements, others take part-time internships in their families
investments firms. Others will directly get into running their family business. While different
opportunities might render a starting point to a growing career, they might still offer a comfortable
position such that, the maximum accomplishment of one’s abilities are hindered. Comfortability
deters production abilities. When capitalists maintain profit and wealth levels at the expense of
refining them, the shareholder is at stake.
When Ozymandias joins the vigilantes, he later realizes it’s not enough for him and quits
before the passing of the Keene Act. Furthermore, Ozymandias uses his savings to bring up a
massive commercial empire which facilitates his intervention and service to the community. This
denotes selflessness at the best extreme. Ozymandias devotion cannot allow him to settle for less
of a legend. The greatness of a nation is not achieved in a flash. It calls for sacrifice from its
occupants, who have to do whatever it takes for its betterment. Time and resources are essential in
this commitment, and just like Ozymandias, world mediators have to sacrifice to succeed.
Industrialist have to evaluate better pastures in their endeavors. Maintain a firsthand method or
way might distort an ability to find better ones. Capitalists, as depicted in Ozymandias role, are
trailblazers and masters of their destiny.
Ozymandias completes his high school before the age of 18 years. He is referred to as a
prodigy due to his ingenuity on matters (Wein et al. n.p). Probably due to this factor, Ozymandias
develops an impish character of lying. He learns the art of lying so as to guise his intentions.
Conventionally, bright minds rear brilliant mischief. It’s not heroic, but in certain ways, that ability
to disguise actions would save you a lot of trouble. Morally, this will dispute the virtues to foster
in a developing persona. When Ozymandias partners with Dr. Manhattan, they work

collaboratively to defend the United States from the nuclear crisis. Their ideologies view the world
in a more significant way than the rest of the characters. He has a sense that recognizes the need
to enhance good leadership and governance to save the society. “America has problems that need
tackling” (Moore, Alan and Dave 10). A right mind will realize when a society needs correction
as Ozymandias conveys. Though not rightfully observed in the modern-day politicking, some
personas have taken into account the needs of society and moved head high to shun misgivings by
corrupt governments. Activism evolves from this conscience as well. Furthermore, good
leadership and governance is key for any organization to thrive.
Ozymandias believes in humankind saving itself. Using the superheroes they used to work
with, he accomplishes this desire to save the world in a very macabre way. He terms it as a histories
practical joke. Ozymandias states, “because I was unable to unite the world by
conquest…Alexander’s method…I would trick it; frighten it towards salvation using history’s
greatest practical joke” (Moore, Alan and Dave 24). He designs an alien life form that is set to fail
on execution and consequentially kills three million people. Ironically, the rest of the world turns
their nuclear weapons against the sky in fear of alien attacks. They let go attacks on each other and
focus on a core enemy. Adrian Veidt, or Ozymandias, holds a consequentialist view of morality,
basing his actions solely on their final results, choosing to ignore short-term harm in service of
long-term benefit (Jeffrey n.p). In this phenomenon, Ozymandias achieves his objective but fails
the moral cognizance. It’s paradoxical that he manages to save the world from dreadful atrocities
towards each other but still has to suffer the wrath of disregarding the human life. Modern day
attempts to solve the world-occupants differences ought to take a more harmonized approach and
above all, measures taken should uphold the sanctity on respecting a human life. A capitalist would
term this feature as selfinflicting motivation to financial freedom. You master plan your way out

of a crisis. Whether financial or managerial, some facets are sure to suffer for the gain of others.
A common revelation is the retrenchment of the modern day employee.
Hughes states that Ozymandias wealth, intelligence, and concentration on past societies
have well removed him from the ideological trappings of the world and into one based on his
system of belief (553). Ideological trappings have rendered the humankind fragile at conformity
of situations. Especially when the human fraternity is held in a crisis, their fragility makes them
understand the reason they should hold together as a single unit. This is what the limitless
Ozymandias uses to come up with his alien form solution. Ozymandias is so overconfident that his
solutions are the best but is it possible they would have formulated a less harmful solution in
unison? Undoubtedly, consensus held to solve a problematic situation in the world today are more
productive and amicable as compared to a one-man solution. There is power in exercising all
stakeholders in solutions origination. The laws that hold industrialization and capitalism subject
the customer to conformity. While the laws might auger well for the administration, sacrificial
lambs are no objection. Collective involvement in the corporate world enables the likelihood to
make more vibrant and informed decisions.
Wholesale slaughter means nothing to Ozymandias if human order is ultimately saved
(Dubose 926). Ozymandias neither works against the established order nor works against it. He
supersedes it. Questions on implications against humanity may arise in this context. How long can
a bad mechanism used to set free a bondage be appreciated? When in the colonialists’ eras activists
had to apply any kind of revenge appliance to the colonizers to set themselves free, it was greatly
appreciated. How long will this feeling hold the activists at the helm of appreciation? Will
humanity ideologies fade their regard as time goes on? Ozymandias is bound to suffer the wrath
of humanity when they learn the truth. No matter how elaborate or cunning Ozymandias plan may
Surname 6
be, he can do nothing to change humanity (Hughes 554). The point of controversy in the capitalist
world is their ability to flourish economically while conserving the ethical aspects of business.
Key players have had conflicts in their interests. Oligarchs use financial power to crumble and
manipulate the essence of democracy. They not only establish their self-interest first but also
supersede the formation of a government. Bigwigs in Ozymandias perspective would set ablaze a
nation’s progress and principles.
When Rorschach learns that Ozymandias killed the comedian, they confront him at his
headquarters. In a conspiracy with the vigilantes, Ozymandias make Rorschach agree to keep their
secret. Dr. Manhattan later kills Rorschach as he tries to escape. The true sense of morality in
Watchmen lies in its lack of a “true hero,” of a “right and wrong,” of a “correct” answer (Jeffrey
n.p). This implicates how government officials in the corporate sector will conspire to execute
plans. Stakeholders are forced to oblige in the expense of the public. Failure to which, any torture
mechanism is instituted. Immense change is observed on Ozymandias transitional life. Wealth and
brilliance turned him to an oligarch. If human ideologies change when they attain status, what is
the measure to keep a patriotic nature and wealth?
Conclusively, Ozymandias portrays a myriad of personas throughout the script; he is torn
in between self-establishment and mankind service. While his contributions aid the world
existence, he ultimately defies moral principles. Human knowledge, as a consequence, reflects the
way in which individuals and communities order and organize their experience of the world, using
concepts which befit the situations they encounter. The knowledge human uses to remedy
conditions is bound to how fit it suits the state. However, stratifying this knowledge’s suitability
triggers the aspect of moral comprehension and observation.
