Whistling with fingers
Whistling is an act of producing clear and sharp sound that is musical by emitting air through
an opening or teeth. Most human beings have an ability of whistling because of the constant flow
of air from the lungs that is moderated by fingers. Concerning this, whistling is basically done to
bring attention as a way of communicating with other people. Therefore, this paper aims at
discussing ways in which humans can master skills of whistling with fingers.
Choosing combination of fingers after washing hands is the first way that helps a person to
whistle. The combination can be the left and right index or middle fingers, middle finger and
thumb or index finger with thumb, which are placed halfway between the center and corners of
lips. These fingers keep tongue and lips pushed back over teeth to create smoothness in the
corners that produces a tone in blowing. The best finger combination that produces a tone is
index/middle finger of both hands. These fingers are extended and kept together creating an A
shape using both hands while other fingers are hold down by thumb. Consequently, one can
whistle using one hand by forming an “OK” shape with either index and thumb or middle and
thumb.
The second way of achieving the whistling process is pushing tongue with fingers back into
the mouth. This is the trickiest part to achieve the process because people think it is just a matter
of pushing tongue into the mouth but it can only work when one folds the tongue and push it into

mouth using fingers. This can be achieved by using index/middle finger of two hands or one
hand by creating “OK’ symbol. Conversely, this is done by placing tip of fingers under the tip of
tongue then pushing it back with fingers by folding and lastly pushing tongue back into mouth up
to reaching the bottom of lips by first knuckle. Moreover, for one to master these skills, he or she
must be familiar with different positions of the mouth and fingers and their functions.
Whistling with fingers can be a success by placing fingers inside the mouth while tongue is
folded and lips pushed back over teeth. To achieve this, one’s mouth must be closed around the
fingers and making sure there is a complete seal around the fingers hence blowing softly through
the hole between two index fingers. In this regard, one should feel air going out only over the
bottom lip as long as it is a perfect seal and appearance of tongue cannot be seen. Fingers should
be placed at changing degrees for one to produce sound like that of a beer bottle when blowing.
Lastly, blowing with more force in this case will give a loud and high-pitch whistle.
The best way of achieving blowing using fingers is to experiment or practice more on
various ways that can produce a whistle. A break while blowing is advised because one can feel
dizzy and lightheaded by blowing without rest leading to headache. When practicing, one has to
find a good time that cannot disrupt people around until he or she figures out by mastering these
skills. The loudness of the whistle depends on the speed of air and capacity of the lungs, the
more capacity and speed the more sound gets extremely loud.
In conclusion, using fingers to whistle is not a matter of genetics and using the theory of ways
in which one can whistle with fingers can be successful by learning and practicing the skills.
Unless one has some difficulty and challenge in whistling due to some conditions, everyone can
achieve it, as there is no scientific prove that specific people cannot achieve it.
