YOGA 2
At the start of each class, the instructor required the students to recognize the universal
power of spirit found within and around us to create a link between physical yoga postures and
the spiritual purposes of the practice. I particularly liked how Anusara coordinates movement,
postures and breathing patterns to achieve its goals of attitudinal expression. The poses and the
coordinated movements played an essential role in improving my general form of posture.
Another aspect that I liked from the Anusara yoga is that rather than the instructor trying to
impose on my postures, he would explain how to abide by the principles of alignment, thereby,
allowing me to develop on my own.
The practice was beneficial to my mental and physical aspects as well. I engaged into the
practice with the aim of refining my mind and body awareness. So it laid the foundation for
bodily structural changes. The practice improved my body’s resilience and became less
susceptible to common ailments such as fever. I became stronger and more flexible as well. I
became more relaxed after the practices and could recollect my thoughts easily without getting
distracted. Additionally, managing educational related stress became much more comfortable
now that I could understand how the body and mind functioned concerning each other.
Yoga practice is one of the many ways in which a person may decide to engage in to
spend his or her free time. The practice does not need any specialized equipment; it requires just
consistency for one to start reaping the benefits. Recommending the practice in work
environments and institutional settings might help in reducing stress, therefore, improving the
drive and self-worth. This will, in turn, reflect on the work output and improved academic
performance.
